Typhoon Kabayan PAGASA Update | August 4, 2011

Typhoon Kabayan (Bagyong Kabayan) "has maintained its strength as it continues to move in a West Northwest direction", the PAGASA reported.

According to the PAGASA, Typhoon Kabayan is packing maximum sustained winds of 165 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 200 kph and was last spotted at 940 km East Northeast of Basco, Batanes. It is moving at a rate of 11 kph.

The state weather bureau also added the following:
This weather disturbance is too far to directly affect any part of the country.

Expected to enhance the southwest monsoon over Luzon and will continue to bring rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides particularly over the western section.

The Low Pressure Area west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur has dissipated.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 15 – 30 mm per hour within the 700 km diameter of the typhoon.
