Renana, a rare sand cat, born at a zoo in Israel

After 9 weeks of gestation, a rare baby sand cat named Renana was born at Ramat Gan Safari near Tel Aviv, Israel, Tuesday.

According to Sagit Horowitz, the safari zoo's spokesperson, it is their first successful Sand Cat birth. The kitten is hoped to be included in the Israel's Sand Cat Breeding Program in order to help reintroduce the species into the wild.
