If you intend to watch the movie, it would be a good idea I guess to take a look of the original "Temptation Island" of 1980 through the video and some info below so that you can somehow compare the new one and appreciate it more:

For someone like me who was not yet born in 1980, the clip above helped me understand the commotion about the the remake since the original movie is really hilarious and somewhat naughty. Would the new one be more funny and daring? The video also got me excited on how it would be like in the new version especially that we have better technology these days.

Meanwhile, here are some bits of information of the original Temptation Island:

* It was released on July 4, 1980 by Regal Films
* It was directed by Joey Gosiengfiao and written by Toto Belano
* It was top-billed by four beauty pageant holders: Azenith Briones (Miss Photogenic, Mutya ng Pilipinas 1975), Jennifer Cortez (Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 1978), Bambi Arambulo (Miss Maja Pilipinas 1977) and Dina Bonnevie (1st Runner-up, Miss Magnolia 1979).
* Among the lead stars, only Dina Bonnevie made it big in the Showbiz industry.
* It has the plot below:
The film focuses on four young ladies from different social backgrounds and each for their own various reasons, enlists in the fictional "Miss Manila Sunshine Beauty Pageant".

The first of which is Dina (Bonnevie), a college student who entered the contest in order to earn independence from her family. Next is spoiled, rich socialite, Suzanne (Cortez), whose every whim is attended to by her maid, Maria (Sun), learned of the contest when fliers dropped from a helicopter interrupts her sunbathing at the family pool and out of sheer vanity decided to sign up. Thirdly, Bambi (Arambulo), while planning her 18th birthday party, when she and her mother argue over the budget, since her once rich family cannot afford the grand debut, Bambi is forced to settle for a much simpler party. But during their argument, Bambi falls on her birthday cake; when sees the pageant's TV spot, her frustrations over her current situation inspires her to join. Rounding up the group is Azenith (Briones) a con-artist who plans to rig the contest by using her and her boyfriend's sexuality to influence the judges into voting for her.

The ladies later became the finalists for the competition. En route to the evening gown competition, the ship they boarded catches fire, and the passengers scramble to evacuate. The four women, Maria, Joshua (the gay pageant coordinator played by Jonas Sebastian) and his boyfriend Ricardo (Ricky Belmonte), Umberto (one of the ship's waiters played by Domingo Sabado) and Alfredo (played by Alfie Anido) land on a desert island

"Temptation Island" is easily one of the funniest, wittiest Filipino films I've seen. Filipino humor, in film at least, automatically means slapstick so to see witty humor by itself is a big deal, much less one done well. Dina Bonnevie, Azenith Briones, and Bambi Arambulo deliciously play catfighting beauty queens ultimately ending up fighting for their survival in, oh yes, baby … Temptation Island! Don't ask how the heck beauty queens end up in a deserted island, just enjoy this deliberately silly early 80's film featuring a very young Dina Bonnevie, still very much active in Philippine cinema and approaching icon status, and her future "love team" partner the late Alfie Anido. The hilarious crowd is completed by two studly studs, including the late Filipino male sex symbol Ricky Belmonte, a highly stereotypical tragicomic screaming queen, and the Filipino film staple, the oppressed house maid (played by actress Debraliz?). Directed by gay fixture Joey Gosiengfiao, the film is definitely not without its faults but it's fun while it lasts. No DVD copies exist as far as I know so good luck finding a decent VHS copy.
Original cast Deborah Sun and Azenith Briones were reported to be appearing on the remake. For more info about "Temptation Island" 2011, you can read the following:
