Bagyong Kabayan Updates | PAGASA Weather Forecast

Bagyong Kabayan has intensified into a tropical storm as it entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the PAGASA said Thursday afternoon.

"At 4:00 p.m. today, Tropical Storm "KABAYAN" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 1000 km East Southeast of Catarman, Northern Samar (12.3°N 134.7°E) with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move Northwest at 15 kph," the 5 p.m., July 28, 2011 PAGASA bulletin reads.

Bagyong Kabayan may have gained strength but the state weather bureau said that the cyclone is "too far to directly affect any part of the country."

There have been no public storm warning signals issued.
