Asia's Songbird has learned to tweet!

We heard about her giving birth to Baby Nate on Twitter first and starting today, the internet world can expect to get more updates on the life of multi-awarded singer and actress Regine Velasquez as she has opened her official account in the microblogging site.

Regine created her Twitter account, @reginevalcasid, earlier this evening and made her first tweet.

"Hi everyone! it's really me regine v. Alcasid!" Asia's Songbird posted.

It was then retweeted by Regine's husband Ogie Alcasid who also confirmed Regine's new Twitter account.

"My wife is finally on twitter tweeps!" Ogie tweeted.

Singers Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid welcomed the arrival of their first baby Tuesday evening in an undisclosed hospital. The celebrity couple named their firstborn Nathaniel James.

In one of his  past interviews, Ogie had said they chose the name Nathaniel for their baby because it means “gift from God."

Nicknamed "Nate", Nathaniel James was delivered via caesarian section at 7:47 p.m on November 8. He weighed 4.4 lbs upon birth.

According to Ogie, Regine's delivery on Tuesday was unexpected. Regine, whose due date was set on November 22nd, went to her obstetrician that day for a routine prenatal check-up when it was found out that her amniotic fluid was low and her sugar level was quite high due to her gestational diabetes.

A few months into her pregnancy, Regine was diagnosed of Gestational Diabetes, a type of diabetes (increase in blood sugar level) which is experienced by many women only during pregnancy and usually goes away after the birth of the baby.

Regine and Ogie got married on December 22 last year in Batangas.

According to a Twitter post by Regine's husband Ogie Alcasid, they welcomed their first-born at 7:47 p.m. and named him Nathaniel James.

"At 7:47pm nov 8,2011. God gave us Nathianel James. Thank you for the prayers. God bless you all!." Ogie tweeted.

Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez, 41, and singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, 44, tied the knot in December 2010 after 3 years of being together. Baby Nathaniel is the couple's first child. Ogie Alcasid has two daughters from his previous marriage with Australian beauty queen Michelle van Eimeren.
