Bagyong Egay
or Tropical Depression "Egay" has "maintained its strength as it continues to move Northwestward and threatens Eastern Visayas and Catanduanes", according to the latest June 17, 2011 5 p.m. bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The PAGASA also reported that as of 4 p.m. on June 17, 2011, Typhoon Egay is estimated at 250 km East of Guiuan City, Eastern Samar - moving at 13kph with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center.

The weather bureau also forecast Bagyong Egay to be at 250 km Southeast of Virac, Catanduanes by Saturday afternoon and at 200 km North Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes by Sunday morning. By morning of Monday, it will be at 180 km Northeast of Tuguegarao, Cagayan.

Public Storm Warning Signal Number 1 has also been issued by the PAGASA in the following areas:

Catanduanes
Northern Samar, and
Southern Samar

Tropical Depression “Egay” is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring rains over Mindanao and Eastern Visayas.
