| iPad 3 rumors predict arrival of next generation iPad |
Citing "sources in the supply chain," Digitimes reported that the iPad 3 is "expected to be available in the next 3-4 months as makers in the supply chain have started delivering parts and components for the new tablet to OEM contractors while reducing those prepared for iPad 2"
"Foxconn Electronics will begin to produce the next-generation iPads in January and to ramp up the production volume starting February," Digitimes added.
Industry Leader Magazine (ILM) also reported the rumor and added that the reason why Apple might launch the iPad 3 in February is because it wants to "upstage Samsung’s (also a rumor but there is high possibility that it pushes through) February launch of their own next-generation Galaxy Tab."
ILM also said there are speculations that the specifications of the iPad 3 would include a high-resolution, retina display, screen based on new technology from Sharp (most likely 2048 x 1536 display); an A6 chip; a larger capacity battery; higher resolution apps; and an LTE support. The iPad 3 is likely to be just a bit thicker, ILM said.
Meanwhile, there is an iPad 3 concept video posted on Youtube which contains rumors about the specs of the new generation iPad as well. Read more details about it here: http://noypistuff.blogspot.com/2011/12/ipad-3-rumors-surface-concept-video.html

Siri On iPhone 4S Videos Invade Youtube
Posted by has in other stuff, siri, siri on iphone 4s funny, technology on Wednesday, October 19, 2011
Siri is a voice activated "assistant" integrated into Apple's new iPhone 4S. It uses natural language processing to response to questions, make searches and recommendations, and perform actions by delegating requests to other iPhone applications (calendar, email, text messaging, etc).
"Siri on iPhone 4S lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. Ask Siri to do things just by talking the way you talk. Siri understands what you say, knows what you mean, and even talks back. Siri is so easy to use and does so much, you’ll keep finding more and more ways to use it." Apple said.
This innovative software is said to be the selling point for the smartphone which has set a sales record of more than 4 million units in three days.
Since the release of iPhone 4S a few days ago, videos relating to Siri have been widely shared on Youtube and some of them are currently going viral through social media sharing.

| Ice Cream Sandwich OS gets previewed. |
According to an Engadget report, a man was surprised when he discovered that the Samsung Nexus S phone he ordered on eBay did not have the familiar Android Gingerbread OS. Instead, he found out that it was the upcoming Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS that was running in his newly acquired handset.
The said person quickly recorded a video displaying what Ice Cream Sandwich's features are. He was able to create a two-minute twenty-second video which he uploaded online. From the clip, we can see that the new OS has a lot of incorporation of Gingerbread and Honeycomb. It shows the user interface as similar to the leaked screenshots that have previously surfaced online. The new features include the lock screen, a Google widget with a number of Google apps, a new camera application and the notification bar. Check out the said video below:
Engadget added that after the person uploaded the video, his handset was remotely wiped and locked.
According to recent reports, Samsung has officially announced that Ice Cream Sandwich will be launched on October 11th. Android Head of Engineering, Mike Claren had called it the company’s “most ambitious release to date.” Features of the new OS will reportedly include facial recognition and new APIs to reduce fragmentation. It is said to be a combination of Gingerbread and Honeycomb into a "cohesive whole"

Teens and Facebook: Positive and Negative Effects
Posted by has in adverse effects of facebook, effect of facebook on kids, facebook, harmful effects of facebook on teens, other stuff, technology, world on Sunday, August 7, 2011
Facebook and other social networking sites can have harmful effects on teens according to a recent study.
Dr. Larry Rosen, a Psychology professor at California State University, outlined his findings before the American Psychological Association over the weekend.
“While nobody can deny that Facebook has altered the landscape of social interaction, particularly among young people, we are just now starting to see solid psychological research demonstrating both the positives and the negatives,” said Rosen.
Here are negative effects of Facebook on kids according to Rosen:
1. Teens who are heavy gamers or Facebook users have more trouble sleeping, higher levels of anxiety, depression, and stomach aches.Rosen also laid out the following positive influences linked to social networking:
2. Young adults and teens who spend their days inside Facebook are more narcissistic and show more signs of other psychological disorders, including antisocial behaviors, mania, and aggressive tendencies.
3. Students who use more technology are likely to miss more school.
4. The more teens and adults use Facebook, the more likely they are to also use alcohol.
5. Students from junior high through college age were observed to generally check social networks or text messages every few minutes while studying, leading to lower test performance than students who focus for longer periods of time.
6. The average teen sends 2000 texts per month, which can lead to problems communicating with family and even carpal tunnel syndrome in a few cases.
1. Young adults who spend more time on Facebook are better at showing “virtual empathy” to their online friends.“If you feel that you have to use some sort of computer program to surreptitiously monitor your child's social networking, you are wasting your time. Your child will find a workaround in a matter of minutes,” he said. “You have to start talking about appropriate technology use early and often and build trust, so that when there is a problem, whether it is being bullied or seeing a disturbing image, your child will talk to you about it.” Rosen advises parents.
2. Online social networking can help introverted adolescents learn how to socialize behind the safety of various screens, ranging from a two-inch smartphone to a 17-inch laptop.
3. Social networking can provide tools for teaching in compelling ways that engage young students.

Facebook now has a video chat feature. Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg announced on Wednesday a partnership with Skype to integrate video calling function in the popular social networking site.
Through the new feature, Facebook users will be able to perform a video call with someone on their "friends list". To do this, a user only need to download a small plugin which is accessible through the chat tab and ta-da — instant video messaging.
In addition to Video Calling, there is also an update to Group Chat that allows for ad-hoc group messaging with a brand new look that would ease finding buddies that are online.
The new Facebook chat features reportedly will begin rolling out to millions of users today.
